Poison Street Goods

Poison Street Parcels is the result of building too much parcels stock for my Scottish H0 layout Dounreay.

It’s loosely-based on the parcels bays at the north end of Oxford station and the south end of Worcester Shrub Hill. These both feature a triangular platform with an overall roof, to the side of the main station. Oxford’s has now been demolished and Worcester’s appears to be undergoing redevelopment.

I’ve constructed the baseboard from 4mm ply. The board dimensions are 120cm x 30cm (4ft x 1ft) with operation from the front. The layout sits on a standard venue table, raised up using folding ply risers. Track is all Peco code 75, with a 2-track sector plate feeding 3 full-length and 1 half-length sidings. Control is dc and there are 9 switchable sections to isolate trains.

The platforms and roof are scratchbuilt in card and plastic, the overbridge a Wills ‘Vari-Girder’ with scratchbuilt abutments. The trolleys, barrows, parcels, mailbags and general detritus come from a variety of sources, mostly 3D-printed.

Still a work-in-progress, with the platform facings and surfaces to finish, along with scenic work on the track and backscenes to do.

Poison Street Parcels debut exhibition will be MMDMRC’s summer show at Knowl Hill on 7th June 2025.

Oh… and the name comes from a song title by my favourite band!
